No more diesels, first brand new super duty

I LOVE diesels but agree for the most part of what you state. I also feel they are all 'consumer' grade engines/electronics that for the price of entry don't have the reliability to back them up. Fuel pump goes and contaminates the fuel system- $10k bill....cha ching. Don't know what the high mileage used market will go with high repair costs.
One would be lucky if that's the only thing that happens to their 6.7. When that junk cp4 pump locks up it can and has caused the cam shaft to spin off the piece of crap pressed in unkeyed junk cam gear making it a fight between the valves and pistons. No thanks.

pretty much not been a thing since 2012, the spun cam gear thing

I've got the Godzilla in my Class C RV and I flippin love it. I have plenty of power in the Colorado Rockies.

My Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is soon to be 11 years old and closing in on 200k miles. I have been looking hard at an F250 with a 7.3L.

My love affair with diesels might be coming to an end.

Pulled my trailer with the xterra on it for the first time, x went to get a new timing belt at the dealership but with nothing else to do and with 1200 on the odo decided she’s been run in enough to see how it tows. I opted to run Abq to glorieta on i25 which is a constant uphill with some brutal long steep climbs. I set the cruise on 75 going and 70 returning, on the steepest longest hill it dropped to 73 and to 6th gear (8,9,10 are over drive gears) it doesn’t pull like a diesel but what this is, is a way to have a cheaper truck day to day that can still get it done. Average mpg for trip was 13.5 and diesel is presently 60 cents a gallon higher, and that big v8 sounds fantastic when it’s pulling hard, trans shift are quick and crisp. I was told trailer weighs 3k empty, the xterra, I'm guessing somewhere around 4-4500, especially with all the bumpers, winches, armor it has

Nice , 2024 and ole Ford still won't put led headlights in a XLT Super duty . Jeesh
The problem with Ford is that I'm not sure who spec'd their led headlights but they've had to recall a number of vehicles as they failed due to excessive glare. Hid headlights had better cri, cutoff and were brighter.

As someone regularly blinded by the LEDs on the front of these, THANK YOU for not getting the LEDs.
I sure wish there were DOT regulations on the candle power of head lights, like back in the day. People with those super bright lights are just as inconsiderate as smokers used to be in restaurants were until that was eliminated.
LEDS are known to help cause macular degeneration, I guess no one cares?

Really nice truck sir! 7.3 is a beast and should be reliable for you. The 26' U haul we had fully loaded did an admirable job with this motor when we moved from IA to AZ. Average 6.5 mpg in that configuration but also pulling trailer last half and brutal headwinds regularly.

Truck does not get driven much, only when I need to do truck stuff, sitting at 3500 miles, considering doing a 2nd break in oil change and then running amsoil by the iolm
It also posted a somewhat decent mpg # last trip I made in it, 3.73's and the 10 speed really help this motor I think

That is really solid mpg in a rig that size! And at the low mileage you put on, should last a very long time.

There are regulations on that. The problem is they rely on the manufacturer getting the aim right, which they don’t. I can’t find it now, but they have to measure hundreds of points at varying distances.
