No hydraulic fluid change and axle seal leaks

The 200oci thread got me thinking about this. Our LS MT232 specifies only a hydraulic filter change at 50hrs, the full fluid change isn't till 500hrs. It seems that it's in the minority and most other manufacturers want a full change at 50hrs. I asked the sales guy if they've seen any issues with these and he said there's been a rash of rear axle seals failing early. Didn't ask how many hours. I'm starting to wonder if that's possibly the cause? There is a small amount of grey material on the bottom of the dipstick the few times I've checked it.

I'm going to play it safe and do a full change with Mobil Delvac hydraulic. Only at 7hrs but 5 gallon buckets at a reasonable price seems to be hard to find so will start looking. Also will change the front axle to Mobil Delvac 80w90.

Make sure to purchase the correctly spec'ed tractor fluid and not standard AW hydraulic fluid. The tractor fluid has extreme pressure additives that hydro does not. Not only that but old specifications (like old 303) are so out of date that they also can do damage.

I changed the hydro fluid on my Kubota at 200 hours but did annual changes to the hydro trans filter and hydraulic filter. The requirement is 400 hrs and early filter changes at 50. The magnet on the hydraulic filter would be covered in filings and chips! Seemed fairly normal on the Kubota boards, but I still wanted that crud outa my transmission!

I also changed the front axle to gear oil. I think it help to cushion the gears a bit better, but also keeps the lower seals from leaking.
