No Compass, What the heck ??!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VW is wrong and the person who responded is incorrect and probably has to be on the corporate customer service level.
I would definitely consider buying such a mirror from a salvage vehicle that wasn't involved in a frontend accident.

I park in my garage and have had Homelink in everything in my household for years.
The Elantra I bought used surprisingly came with it.

Modern VW's are very easy to modify using VCDS. That tool allows you to do all sorts of things on a VW and Audi you can't do on most other makes. Like adding VW options that your vehicle didn't come with when programming is needed. Or if you want to program your key fob to open and close the windows by pressing and holding on the unlock button for down, lock button for up. Program it to close a sunroof and windows at the same time... .

Who needs a compass??? They weren't in cars decades ago and we survived. Hopefully, it came with a paper roadmap.
 
My compass was removed from the mirror, and put into the dash info center. You have to scroll through to find it now. Kinda sucks. Like the OP, I liked mine in the mirror.
 
The OP should fly over to Germany and demand to speak to VW president Deiter or whatever his name is now and demand to know why there is no compass in his car.

Or a cheaper alternative would be to buy one out of the Acme catalog. They have everything in there.
 
I was driven many cars back in the day without a compass, they drove just fine; however, I got to tell you both Hondas in the garage are equipped with a compass and yet I barely noticing them
 
When I was a kid I used to mock the senior citizens in their Buicks that had compasses mounted on their dashboards. I thought to myself, what do they think they are piloting, a boat ?
Then my 2004 Infiniti G35 had a compass built into the dash. And I came to appreciate it as the car didn't have Nav and my phone didn't either.
My 2009 Nissan 370Z did not have a compass and I missed it. I guess it was part of the Nav option which I did not have. My Mazda CX 5 has a compass in the instrument cluster and I like it.
I guess now that I am 65 I fall under that same category if senior citizen that I used to mock and I must atone for my sin. But I still wouldn't be caught dead in one of those American made land yachts.
 
I thought I’d miss my compass, my 300 had 2… truthfully it took me a few months to realize I didn’t have one in my truck.
 
A small car really has no need of a compass. Now if you go back 40-50 years to the land yachts like the El Dorado or the Grand Fury to name a couple, then a compass should have been standard equipment. Gyro or magnetic?
