Well just installed a set a dual cold air intakes for my z. After the instal I noticed my idle little weird. Everything tight and clamped but still acting up. Finally threw a code p0507 idle air control rpms higher then expected.

Well only one thing I did on the install is clean the throttle bodies with a rag like how I used to on my older vehicles. Could this have caused the light?? I see no way how the intakes could have caused it. When I'm driving the car and let my foot off the gas it shoots to 1500rpms and slowly drops down and I mean really slow.

What I'm getting after researching on google is people cleaning there TB and having same code. Is there a way to reset besides the dealer?

If you have an idle air bypass cover it with your thumb with the thing running. Should almost stall with air only going through the throttle bodies. If not you need to close the throttle blades some more (normally is not a messed-with item) or look for a vacuum leak.

Even if you have a MAF in your intake tube you could try to run this test without it, if it's disco'd the car should at least try to idle still.

A battery disco may be the first thing you should try though.

Is MAF bore size same as stock or was MAF affected in this change? iF so - system wont work without tune for new AF metering. if not check AGIN for leaks, dont overtighten clamps(!) and maybe reset ECU and follow learning procedure.

Nothing was changed with the maf and I cleaned it with just a rag. I don't know if I have a iac valve. When you guy say tune meaning aftermarket or nissan dealer computer reset? I'm going to try battery disconnect. What's a reset learning procedure

On fords you're supposed to just let the car idle with all the accessories off for 15 minutes, it'll figure it out.

The idle air bypass is a hole about the size of a dime that parallels the throttle body, you should find its opening near the blades.

+1. I havent messed with any really new nissans but if the MAFS just bolts into the new intake and it isnt exactly the same diameter as stock it will throw off the air fuel ratio.

I can't really find anything and yea maf sensor bolts right in like stock. Same diameter. I really just think it was cleaning the TB which set off the code. Now I just need to know how to reset it. Btw how do you like the sti? That was originally what I was going to buy

No complaints here. I had originally only had RWD Nissans and thats all I had known. It took a little getting use to how the car reacts with the awd but I really like the car. The only complaint I have is I miss the direct shifter feel of a car that doesnt use linkage in the shifter.

Is this drive by wire throttle? Did you move the throttle plate by hand while the ignition key was off?

Nissans are known to cause you lot of (financial) pain if you touch the drive by wire throttle. Post 2003, all Nissans use drive by wire throttle body.

What has happened is that the TB and computer have gotten out of sync. One would think it would be easy to just re-sync them again. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible on Nissans. If you google maxima.org, you will find lots and lots of hits on the trouble when TB is cleaned without following specific guidelines.
