The 2005 Nissan VQ40DE V6 in the Frontier and Pathfinder recommend a few oil weights 5w30, 10w30, 5-40 or was it 0-40? I can't recall anyway my 2012 Nissan Pathfinder with the same motor only recommends 5w30? According to what I am reading there were no real changes to the motor so why the oil change recommendation? I have no idea about the years between 05-12.

My '10 called for 5w30 only. I'm looking at the manual now. Possibly Nissan back spec-ed to just one grade in the name of convenience/conformity?

If it was anything like the G and its forerunners, it looks like they just did some quick editing of the manual, and not much more than that.

Besides, 5w30 year round is a sensible recommendation.

My 2007 M35 seems to prefer Kendall blend 5w30 and Quaker State Conventional. 100% Quaker State Ultimate Durability not so much.

EPA fuel economy mandates and higher MPG on the window sticker.
