I had a SOHC Ka24E same year as you.

10W-40 should be ok. Unless its very very hot.

Could even use 10W-30.... I never put 5W anythign in there.. but that engine is great.

Why did they recommend such heavy Oil? Only BMWs and stuff liek the heavy oils that much...

So can i put 10w 40 ?? I'm afraid leaking or burning oil??? what is your recommendation brand for 10w 40 ???
20w 50 because traffic condition in here always stop on go driving and very hot climate, high humidity.
average 86F at clear day. maybe worst 89,8F. i'm like bit confuse

Now, now! Before you jump right into conclusions, please provide the following information:

(1) what sort of motor oil (brand/weight) you get locally in Indonesia?

(2) is your vehicle a diesel (not familiar with your Terano 1)? If so, what does your factory manual recommends?

We here in North America uses from 0W20 to 15W40 for all things Gasoline and from 5W40 to 15W40 for typical Diesel engines, and this tends to differ to those who are outside of NA area, which may use higher viscosity oil.

If you use the 10-40 or 15-40 and it burns too much oil, then switch back or mix in some heavier oil. But you won't hurt anything by trying it.

Thinner oils run cooler and have less internal friction.
I would try a 15-40 instead of the 20-50.
