Nissan oil filters

Has anyone cut open a Nissan filter? If so what was your impression.

I will be using Napa Golds from now on. This is from sxg6's post. The 1356 fits all Nissan/Infinti's from 2001-on.

Check out the Nippon oil filters.

I cut one open and was really impressed with the construction. These can be had for about $5.00, including shipping.

Ive been using OEM Nissan oil filters in my car since day one. My UOA was very good ,so I dont know what to make of this. I will cut mine open when I change it out next time to see. GMZ's UOA

GMZ, It is amazing that people think that a paper filter media is OK, but that a treated paper or cardboard (or composite?) end cap is not. There is nothing wrong with your Nissan filters. I used them a few years ago and they were well made filters. Even looking at the pics posted above, these are fine filters with a robust BPV and ADBV.
