Nissan Matic-J ATF

Can any body help me understand the "special" nature of Nissan Matic J ATF? As a Nissan owner (2007 Frontier V-6 auto), I would like to find a possible alternative that is not $11-12/quart.

Castrol Import Multi Vehicle mentions that it works in Nissan Matic J transmissions. It would cost about $4 per quart.

Castrol Import Multi Vehicle will do just fine. Recently changes the fluid in 3 Nissans I have. Upon the recommendation of MaximaGuy I went with the Castrol Import fluid. No problems.

Subaru dealerships sell Idemitsu ATF HP fluid for their 5 speed automatics and it's an exact equivalent to the Matic J fluid. It's also more reasonably priced, costing around $6.40 a quart. I've been using it in my '05 Frontier without any problems.

Many thanks! What is it that is supposed to make this a special fluid? Is there a chemistry difference in the fluid or does it have special additives? As a chemist, I'm just curious.
