It seems like most replace the gear reduction oil at about 100,000km. I just crossed over that and will do it soon. Most of the accounts I’ve seen say the old oil still looks good.I read through that because I was curious what maintenance an EV needs. It was all about tire rotation, cabin filter, brake fluid, and little else. There was nothing about the gear reduction oil except to inspect it for leakage. As a BITOGer I would expect the vehicle to benefit from changing out the gear reduction oil after breakin, same as we do for transmissions and differentials. It appears to have coolant (approx 6 qts), but makes no mention of checking it.
Change oil, brake fluid. Put tires on it. Keep an eye on the 12v battery, it can do weird things as it gets weak.Just bought the wife a used '22 Leaf SV Plus.
The seller didn't know where the owners manual was, and I have no idea how to maintain and EV. What does it require for maintenance?
Thanks
Nope Blackstone labs says the oil goes bad around 40,000 to 50,000 miles. It seems like most replace the gear reduction oil at about 100,000km. I just crossed over that and will do it soon. Most of the accounts I’ve seen say the old oil still looks good.
Can’t hurt to do it early.
There are lots of videos on YouTube showing how to change the coolant. I don’t remember the interval but a 22 would not be there yet.
There’s really nothing else that isn’t wear items.
There's going to be magnets in those gear boxes somewhere. Find them and clean them.It seems like most replace the gear reduction oil at about 100,000km. I just crossed over that and will do it soon. Most of the accounts I’ve seen say the old oil still looks good.
