Looked at a forklift today. Saw the overflow bottle filled to the top with coolant. Also looked like the radiator was leaking. I thought coolant up to the top of the coolant reservoir was an indicator because it doesn't transfer back into the engine. Also had some brown somewhat thick soft varnish on the valve cover., so I guess it didn't get many oil changes.

I question if you really need a forklift. I hope you aren't being consumed by wanting one and wont be happy until you buy one.

I'm just looking for a cheap forklift, nothing that I can't get my money back out of or at least most of it

I'm confused. Are you saying i'm just going to run out and buy one, then not be happy once I do get it?

At what point do you consider an engine to have too much sludge?

And how do you get it back on track to being clean? Or can you never really get an engine cleaned out?

I guess this is a dedicated forklift engine. I thought it was put into cars too.
