Nissan Drain and Fill Help

Im lining up to do my first coolant drain and fill on my 2009 nissan versa. I bought a gallon of OEM Nissan coolant (blue), just in case zerex asian wasnt fully compatible. Ive read multiple forums, and the techniques vary.
My idea: Drain the rad (approx 1 gallon), and refill rad. Start car with rad cap off, idle for 2-3 minutes. Then put cap back on, drive around for 15-20 minutes.
Is this technique correct?

Save yourself a HUGE mess and go get a spill-proof funnel that locks onto the radiator cap neck. Then your method becomes:

Drain radiator
Put spill-proof funnel on radiator
Refill coolant reservoir if it's empty
Refill radiator until there is some coolant left in funnel
Start car
Turn heat all the way to hot (if it matters for your vehicle, it may not)
Allow car to run until main fan has cycled a few times while continually topping off funnel and wait until you no longer see bubbles
Turn car off, take funnel off radiator
Cap radiator
Go drive around and make sure everything's OK.

I'd just drain the. Fill it. Run it a few miles, let it cool. Refill the radiator, because the level will have gone down a bit. Might have to do that a couple of times. Obviously use RO or Distilled water. Do that ever couple/three years and you'll be fine.

In my experience you can't get away with having to back and refilling the radiator (when cold). Thnis method is the quickest. Don't over-tighten the radiator petcock valve.
