Nippon oil filters....Made in Malaysia.

Has anyone really tried these? I've got one that I got for free from a fellow VG Maxima driver (I have a '91 Maxima SE and a 1986 Pulsar NX, both use the same filter) Is there a general consensus on the quality? It certainly looks and feels like a nice piece, and comes with a plastic cap on the end to keep stuff out.

All they have on them is the Nissan OEM #, plus instructions in english and japanese characters (put oil on the gasket, etc.) The box just has the logo and says "Made in Malaysia" in tiny letters.

If this is a nice quality filter, I wouldn't mind just buying them from this guy on ebay, since 4 at a time would be handy. Thanks for any advice

So, nobody's seen em? I'm curious because if these Nippons from Malaysia are good filters, I might use that brand for the Camry too.

I don't trust them. Their air filters did not fit (I tried two). Oil filters look OK but UOA indicated increased insolubles for me. I stay away from them. I believe the name is meant to resemble Nippon-Denso brand but has actually no relation to Denso.

Are Nippon air filters the ones with a red filter element? I may have actually seen one of those.

They look just like my UnionJapan/UnionSangyo filters for my Acura/Honda. I think they are also made in Malaysia. Mines appear to have a orange ADV (silicon?)

I recently purchased, through eBay, some of these filters. They're made by Union Sangyo Corp. http://www.unionsangyo.com/oil.htm and seem quite well made; I can't vouch for the filter media, but it doesn't look like plain cardboard. There have been earlier discussions on these products in this section...

Interesting. So, how did you figure out they were made by UnionSangyo? Their packaging and filters are very plain for sure!

Now that I think of it, I've heard that name before...we might use their oil filters on some of our machines at work.

These filters are also sold under the Union Sangyo name...

I took one apart the other day. Good amount of media & solid bypass valve. The only thing I dont like is the rubber O-ring, ...it looks a little flimsy even though Im sure it seals just fine.

Nice filter for the price.
