Got a 2004 Kawasaki Ninja 500 with 6,500 miles a while back. Had no idea when the oil had been changed last, so I decided to do that right of the bat.

After my typical research I decided to go with Amsoil MCF 10W40 oil and an EAOM103 Oil Filter.

I figured I'd leave it alone as far as additives and run it to 6k, then pull a sample. If my curiosity gets the better of me, I might pull a sample at 3k.

Anyone else running this combination?

Anyone have thoughts on how many miles this oil might last?

I enjoy full throttle, but I stay about 1k below redline, as the power tapers off pretty quickly in the upper ranges. I don't thrash it though. Say 75% highway.

I have lots of Gold Wing customers running this same combination. They take it 16,000 miles or once a year whichever happens first.

What does Kawasaki recommend for an oil change interval? Double it with Amsoil and their free warranty.

To keep the Amsoil warranty, I'd suggest a used oil analysis at 6K. It will likely tell you to extend to 10K. I personally go 12K on my BMW K1200LT.
