Last week, I took my 18 year old Echo Stick Edger to a small shop near my house. It was running rough and was not getting full power. I have always changed the spark plug every season and run good gas with the Echo oil.

Took it to this shop and found the carb was just out of adjustment. They also too the time to lube the shaft, bearings and give it a tune up. The owner gave me a reasonable price and I paid in cash. Since I paid in cash, he gave me 1 new blade and 2 NGK spark plugs for my mower.

How is that for great service! I am guessing, he did not have to pay a credit card surcharge and tossed that in lieu of. The charge was reasonable for the time and parts.

I will definitely go back for any other service I need.

Doesn't it feel nice to know there's a few honest small business owners left out there! It's a travesty that good experiences like this are rare these days.

I agree! Some places just try and take the consumer to the cleaners. I like places that treat the customer well.

A cousin of mine took her car into an auto shop near me because the brakes were making a lot of noise. She knew nothing about cars and was quite young. The guy put the car on the lift, took off the wheel and took a look and found a stone wedged in the brake caliper. Took the stone out, showed it to my cousin, put it all back together, and didn't charge her a dime. He said, "nothing is broken."

There are still good small businesses and auto shops out there, you just need to find them. I buy my beer from a small local owned beer store and take my Rx7 to a shop that has experience with rotary engines.

Reguardless of tax or CC surecharge savings. It's plain smart business. Treat people right and they will always be back. Thats a smart business man!!

Make sure to tell your friends. Word of mouth is still the best advertising. That will guarantee his business will be a success.
