NGK plug gap

In general, you want as wide a gap that will not misfire.

There is a margin from factory settings.
Almost all cars can use .005" [sometimes more] over the max, if the ignition system is in perfect shape.

Your max load on the ignition is at mid RPM torque peak conditions.
AT high RPM, the load is less, but is much more frequent, and poses a different problem.

Yes, I've seen that TSB also, the one I was talking about was a different one for plugs being used up quickly. For some reason the 2.4 will ruin the "wrong" plugs in under 8k, at least on our Jeep. With the Champions it goes 30k.

Yes, but I "think" there was another TSB for that issue (maybe?). My TSB says it was made to address "cold engine carbon fouling".

Just run .044. My Saturn is the same way. Last time I got plugs they were at that mark, not .040 like specified, so I banged them on a wood desk to get .040 and installed.

This time I just let them be at .044 and throttle response was great initially.
