Valvoline has a picture of it in the rolling banner at the top of their page. They haven't updated their product pages and I don't see it anywhere else but looks like we could be seeing it on store shelves soon. I guess Valvoline was serious when they said they had the capability and were evaluating market demand in the Q&A.

If they make that, will it flop like normal Nextgen?

Ironically, I have Nextgen in my engine now.. and, since I selected SynPower as my next oil, I'd run it.

Now all we need is Maxlife Nextgen Synpower...

I perceived a value difference between NexGen & NexGen MaxLife (which makes sense, I think, considering the age of the cars/trucks in the stable) and bought (FAR!) accordingly.

I see no reason why a NexGen SynPower wouldn't be a good buy under similar circumstances.

As far as a NexGen Synthetic MaxLife (or whatever!) is concerned, remember we live in the New Age of BRANDING and shelf space...

If you can push all the other crackers off the shelf with Rye Triskets, Cheese Triskets, Rosemary and Parmesian Triskets, Low Salt Triskets, NO SALT Triskets, etc. what's gonna' sell?

Cheers!

p.s. Looking forward to another round of FAR's, BTW!

Umm... FAR? (What does that mean?)

And I know "Maxlife Nextgen Synpower" seems like a bit of a stretch.. but if that Full Synth Maxlife market heats up/HM oils (DO they still make Full Synthetic Maxlife? I saw it "Twice" in stores..) .. then..

I still have the "Normal" Synpower, so, I will buy whatever remains $25 for 5 quarts. 6th quart? Redline.

I also know that Nextgen is NOT in a lot of stores, and I bought the oil I have in my engine now for $1.87 a quart on clearance..

FAR means free after rebate

Valvoline dominates the high mileage market but their Synpower is mostly regarded as an afterthought even though it's an excellent oil. I can't see Nextgen Synpower making it at all.

I like NextGen, but I agree with KCJeep.

I would certainly regard NextGen as a "good" oil, but in hard economic times, I doubt people would pay more just to be "Green". Especially when a comparable PYB or Quaker State oil is cheaper. If it was the same price or cheaper than PYB, I bet it would fly off the shelves. The WalMarts around here can't keep PYB in stock.

Definite potential for FAR

Nextgen high mileage oil could literally be high mileage oil if it is recycled enough times!

They all need some rebate to get people to try it, especially if your synthetic oil is rerefined/recycled. Many people have a new and best mentality that anything used is not the best and they won't pay for it at the same price.

It would be hard to explain how is synthetic rerefined and how is synthetic real, and why should you pay more for it. Doing it wrong could either cheapen the brand image of Synpower.

DO they still make (normal) Maxlife Full Synthetic, in the silver jugs?

I saw it in TWO stores. Looks like they sold about three of them.... They had 5w30 and 10W-30.

When the Nextgen was on clearance, I bought all 15 quarts (yes.. the whole shelf) at $1.87 a quart, this summer. 8 of the quarts were 10W-30, the rest 5w30. The 10W-30 saw service in the fall, before winter came.. the 5w30 got used up in this Volvo. I still have a few quarts left, I think.. Now, I decided on Synpower, so. Oy.

Synpower, Castrol Edge, and Mobil 1 are all $24.97 for a 5-quart jug at Walmart. I chose Synpower, based on all (user) experiences/reviews. (And I purchased, and returned, the M1 15W-50 jug. Turns out that I didn't need it..)

IMO it won't sell. The general public think full synthetic is still made by some geek in a lab in a white suit and don't know there's any actual stocks from the ground in it. They'd have to put a serious marketing spin on it to get any interest.

I disagree. It will be tough to change the old dogs and their ideas however the younger generation is more environmentally conscious. I'd bet it would sell to some on that merit alone.

Then people will have to start to learn full synthetics aren't totally man made. I know people who's jaws have dropped when you break that news to them. The environment conscience people will probably lean towards the regular next gen then. Heck, that oil isn't flying off the shelves which is proof it's an Uphill climb. Walmart dropping that line should tell you it doesn't sell that well.

I'm all for it, I have used reg next gen and next gen in the maxlife favor, so I'm a fan. I'm just giving that I think will be a reality.

In Australia we absolutely never get oil "FAR". We do however get it "FAE" (F*!#ing Always Expensive).

The problem I see is they already have NexGen MaxLife and regualar MaxLife, both of which meet dexos 1 (5w30). So what benefit do you really get with Synpower at this point?

Where is the info on the nextgen meeting dexos? I know the regular does but is there a pds that says the nextgen is?

Wouldn't it be nice if a lot of those people with an "environmental conscience" also had a FINANCIAL conscience that motivated them to be willing to divest themselves from the entitlements/dependency culture they so adore?
