NextGen Questions

Hey everyone,

Does anyone have an idea what is going on with NextGen? My local Autozone has phased it all out, and I know that is already a topic of discussion here, but today I get the O'Reilly's ad, and I noticed something. They are advertising NextGen, and the bottles are different. They are now white with green caps, and a green label. They mimic the normal conventional, but have green labels instead of blue, and a green cap.

I am trying to understand what is going on with Valvoline, as for about one week I saw Synpower NextGen, and then it was gone. I have not seen it anywhere since.

Anyhow, thanks for reading. I was just curious about this...

I predict a merger of nextgen and conventional.

Note how this label reads "Nextgen technology" as well as "conventional". I predict the size of the fonts will invert itself in six months to a year-- ie "Conventional" (big) "with Nextgen tech" (small.)

The Maxlife is the same way. Red bottle with a green cap. So, like stated, I am guessing some sort of change.

looks to me like they just changed the labeling. the guy I talked to at autozone here said because not selling very well.
I've read on here about surplus of GTL base stocks and combined with the energy "boom" of natural gas n increased oil production. I'm guessing this is keeping demand for recycled oil down. plus it also must overcome the stigma that its not up to par (which I don't believe) .
plus other factors I'd assume, just my guess.

It wouldn't surprise me if valvoline went to nextgen oil in all the jugs.

It's only a matter of time before all PCMO has some amount of re-refined content in it I'm sure.

I would have thought it would make more sense for Valvoline to use NextGen to replace the DuraBlend line. We'll see though.

Valvoline really shot themselves in the foot with this Nextgen, now it has an advisory. There reputation is now damaged the exec that made the choice to make this product should be fired.

They had to give it away with rebates then bragged how much they sold the first year when introduced.

The other brands sat back and let Valvoline make the mistakes with this recycled oil and damage the brand name further.

Even so called industry experts say refined oil can be in consistent quality due to feedstock variations or re refining methods. Personally I would not put rerefined oil in any motor worth value or I cared about.
