Next Vehicle will NOT be a Subaru

After 3 Foresters, '78DL, Crosstrek, GR86(90% Subaru), I will trade the '24 GR for a '26 Rav4. I like the idea of port and DI fuel injection. There are a few more items standard like warnings for merging. 10sp vs fake shifting CVT. Certainly the AWD system is not as good but for me its irrelevant. 20 more HP. After 1+ years of my GR its time to move on.

I will never get rid of the wife's '18 Forester XT (and of course she would never permit it..lol). It will be another 6 months and I will be anxious to take a test drive.

Ony other opinions of the Rav4?
 
Good luck. I am tired, sorta, of my Corolla. Wife says that I’m tired of having a meh car. Only thing it does well is commuting. So I get the sentiment.
 
The new one is right around the corner and it looks like it will hold onto the old but good NA 2.5 at least for a while given what reports say but i expect a refresh for it and the camry to include the new smaller turbo 1.5. I bet it'd still have enough power with the new NA 2.0 toyota just developed but it may get the 1.5t.
 
I would go hybrid if possible. If nothing else, trade-in will be helped. More desirable on the used market. Not saying you'll get 100% of the increase back, but it's more desirable on the used market, and by all accounts, a better ride & drive. A small price bump. We like our hybrid Camry.
 
Subaru is coming out with a Hybrid version of the Forester. Compared to a standard ICE, hybrids are more complex which can reduce reliability. Of course hybrids can be very reliable - e.g. Toyota Prius - though I'd avoid getting a hybrid in its first year of release (version "one point ut-oh"). Give them a few years to work out the kinks.
 
For the price difference I would go with the regular hybrid. In addition to the better gas mileage and lower maintenance costs you get more power. The only problem with the hybrid is the lack of availability (and as a result, what the dealers are going to do to you when you try to purchase one).
 
I dont understand the title since you are trading a toyota on a toyota.

Title should be "Next car will be another Toyota"

Also your current toyota should have dual injection? Which I also like the idea of.
 
2026 Rav4 will be a redesign that has yet to be announced. All data is speculation and spy shots.

If the 2025 Camry is an indicator - the new Rav4 will by hybrid only. But Toyota has not said anything about that yet. Especially with the new rules?

Additionally lots of complaints on Camry gouging by dealers for the new models. Go figure. I expect supply chains to be slow to fill in traditional Toyota fashion.

I wouldn't be running off next January to buy a new Rav4 personally. Let things shake out till summer.
 
We own a RAV4 hybrid. The hybrid driveline is a solid 50% more nimble than the standard. AWD may not be as hard-work capable, which is probably minimal, but it is sharply sorted for agility and within-sane-speeds tossing. I’ve scratched off with the rear axle several times in ours while doing a tight pull-out. Coming from a GR86, you might really enjoy the H. Give it a test drive. The eCVT programming is quite well sorted and it sips fuel.

Right but driveability and performance on modern hybrids compared to base engines is just so much better. The instant torque off the line of the EV components, engine off at red lights without the harshness of normal start/stop systems, have benefits besides fuel savings.
