Newest version of napa gold 1372 gets shorter

I noticed it a few days ago at napa buying the filter for my oil change. Checked online, old version is 4.2 in long, new one is 3.8 in long. I also checked the wix clone, it also gets shorter, same as the new one. The napa platinum version still has the 4.2 in length, but that's twice as much.

Don't you hate it when they do this?

The Napa 1372 is the same as a Motorcraft FL-820S. A few years ago the FL-820S got a little bit shorter, I think so it would fit in some new model cars. Looks like Wix is finally catching up and doing the same.

I would cut that puppy open. This could mean they went to the leaf spring and ditched the coil spring. I hope not.
