Newer Cars have "better" paint?

It also depends on if the paint is basecoat/clearcoat or a single stage paint. SOme new vehicles still get single stage paint and from people I'ved talk to in the business those are the ones they have the most issues with, especially when doing a repair.

I work for Sherwin Williams at an automotive paint location, and do most of the deliveries, so I'm always hearing from guys about the issues they're having with vehicles.

They can, and do. But I've had people tell mt that they're using harder clear coats for the durability and longevity. The harder clears chip easier but don't scratch as easy. So the finishes don't get as messed up when the majority of people run them throughthese hardcore car washes or rubb the bejesus out of the finish with the brushes at the DIY car washes.
