Newbie questions on pre-oiler

1. Can the pre-oiler draw oil from the port where oil pressure sensor resides? I already have a sandwitch adaptor installed for Frantz oil bypass filter which has only one outlet port.

2. The Accusump web site indicates its products use 1/2" NTP fitting, which is quite large. Will it function well if a reduction adaptor is used to connect the pre-oiler to the oil pressure sensor port? I understand the pre-oiling process might take longer due to smaller port.

3. Does the mechanical oil pressure gauge on the Accusump actually reflect the actual engine oil pressure? That is, does it double as oil pressure gauge?

1. No. The oil pressure switch is post pump, it is very unlikely the pre-oiler will suck thru the pump. Typically I see a tap with a banjo fitting into the pan
2. That is large but reducing down to say 3/8 npt should be ok. You want some oil, you dont need full flow because the motor is not runngin

It is a necessity for an oil bypass filter to return oil to the engines where there is less oil pressure. The oil pan is a common choice. So, if pre-oiler is connected to the oil pan, how does it get re-filled due to low oil pressure there?

I don't think QuadDriver understands what an Accusump is. You definitely don't want to attach it to the oilpan.

The pressure switch port is fine for attaching an Accusump pump. The 1/2" NPT fitting should be adequate for flow from this location.

It's best if this port happens to be located downstream from the filter. That way, you're filling the Accusump up with filtered oil and the oil will more quickly pressurize your system. Most engines are designed this way.

slalom44 - You're right about the connection location.
I wouldn't worry about necking down the NPT fitting a little if it's [Accusump] main use was for start up oiling. For oil starvtion in twisty racing, bigger is better.
