New Wix XP

That 99% @ 23 microns is based on a 51515xp, it's on the Wix website.
I don't see any efficiency or beta ratio info for the Wix 51515XP on their website. That's because it's "proprietary". 😄 Where are you seeing this "99% @ 23u" claim?

There seems to be many claims online for WIX XP oil filters that says:

  • ADVANCED FILTRATION EFFICIENCY: Next-gen synthetic-blended media with natural fibers eliminates the need for wire backing. 99% effIcient at 23 microns (based on 51515XP)
Here's an Amazon link for example... https://www.amazon.com/WIX-57356XP-Oil-Filter-Pack/dp/B0CYN62WT6?th=1

Not sure where that is coming from... Oreilly's says below...

99 percent efficient at 35 microns (Based on 51515XP, 51356XP and 57060XP).

I'll be contacting Wix Tech Dept to verify, lol. Don't believe it unless M+H totally changed the media after acquiring Wix.
They have been changing the media. It's their new "Resin" cellulose/micro glass (Syn blend) type they're switching over to now for the XP line. I'm sure you'll let us know what you hear if anything. (y)

I thought the original which was full synthetic and not synthetic blend?
I think the Wix XP use to be a full synthetic media, with backing (metal or nylon mesh, don't recall exactly). Maybe they were tired of telling people that the 50% @ 20u efficiency was "proprietary". I'll never forget that phone call I made to Wix and that's what the Tech Dept told me. 😄

Wonder if this Wix 51515 they ISO 4548-12 tested was this new media? 🤷‍♂️ The ISO 4548-12 came in at 78% @ 20u. This ISO testing in a certified lab was done in early 2025.

CrazyBill'sGarage opened and placed a video of a used WIX 51334 on 9/5/25 at Y.T.. Looks to be Premium Guard . Opened other WIX filters as well at his site .

So it's basically a cellulose filter with added micro glass that holds it together for strength so it doesn't need a backing. Doesn't sound too special to me. It's not that it has glass media filtering.

Far as I know this newer efficiency claim 23um is on the XP & not the regular (Standard) WIX filter. The one in that link being the standard one I don't think it will compare. From WIX website they're stating the new "Resin" media eliminates the reinforced media backing while keeping a 20k mile claim. Will it eventually go to the standard line? I don't think so. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, that's the standard Wix, which use to be more efficient than the XP. 78% @ 20u isn't that hot either for that standard Wix.
