Seems better
.
They have been out for quite a while .. ridiculously thin cans IMO.
Efficiency is better!!
I know Purolator was real proud of their Boss line though. I doubt they'll get rid of their "Smart Fusion" anytime soon but we are definitely seeing some cheaper manufacturing methods being made in the Puro & these XP's. Nice to see the 20k mileage claim is still present. Time will tell!Black glue of death….
My theory is the Purolator 20k, Wix XP, and Boss will all be the same shortly.
Only reason I say the Boss might be changing is it’s on clearance most everywhere.I know Purolator was real proud of their Boss line though. With these companies going to Vietnamese filters it makes sense!Only reason I say the Boss might be changing is it’s on clearance most everywhere.
Per a call to Purolator's tech dept, the gold "20K" filter's efficiency is basically the same as the Boss (99% @ 46u), so this new Wix XP can't be the same media if they say it's now 99% @ 23u in the video in post 1.Is this just a Purolator 20k gold from Walmart with black paint?

I hope it’s good, and they continue producing them, because oil filter “whack-a-mole” is wearing on me.That ^^^ video is 8 months old, but the video from Wix in post 1 is only 6 hours old. So apparently the Wix XP in the video in post 1 is a newer version then the one in wild Bill's video. Plus his notes showed the efficiency to be 99% @ 35u, whereas the on in post 1 shows the efficiency to be 99% @ 23u.
I was tired of oil filter Whack-A-Mole, so went with some decent PGI filter choices since they seem to leave a good thing along ... so far.I hope it’s good, and they continue producing them, because oil filter “whack-a-mole” is wearing on me.

It's probably sized fine, unless the filter is near totally clogged but that shouldn't happen if someone maintains their vehicle right. The bypass valve is meant to flow enough to keep the dP under control, not necessary flow 90+ of the flow from the pump. A small hole will flow way more than you'd realize - you have to do fluid dynamic flow calculations. But I prefer the Napa version only.
Why PGI went with that pinhole relief valve for years I don’t know.
I'm always ordering off rock auto so that's the only way I'll buy these and were there half price vs auto parts store. Like I said the parts store price is highway robberyAuto parts stores are ripoffs. They mark up everything. Wait for a sale at Walmart / Rock Auto / Amazon, then stock up. Works for me.
