I would totally buy that for $800. My 2.2 has been pretty solid. I have had to replace the water pump twice.... I'm guessing it would have only been once if I didn't cheap out the first time. I think sticking with OE parts is the way to go there. My brother had a Cobalt for a bit and I was amazed at how much more civilized it was than my Cavalier.

Got the hood popped today, wouldn’t work on account of the damage. It now needs hood pins but everything looked clean, oil was super low though. I’ll just change that this week, probably throw some Valvoline Restore and Protect in it.
Update: blower motor failed last night

The cobalts are good cars. Keep an eye on the timing chain tensioner as some had issues mostly due to neglected oil changes.
The Achilles heels of the Cobalt is the suspension and steering. Lots of clunks, rattles, and vibrations. Easy to work on and parts are cheap. They run forever. I still have my 2008 G5 with 230k miles. It’s been one of my favorite cars to own of all time.
