I just don't know what you guys see in aftermarket filters.

For some applications, performance. They're claiming a filter that flows about as well as an oiled-cotton-gauze-filter-of-doom, but filters about as well as a paper filter, WITHOUT oil. So while I won't be using one, I'm not going to cover my eyes and remain ignorant of the pros and cons of different filter technology. It would be nice to be able to recommend a CAI for someone who is hungry for more, that won't screw up their MAF.

Now, all that hinges on it actually working and not sucking. But I can't see a reason to attack it yet.

I have a hard time in an air filter not flowing enough air. Maybe improved intake plumbing.

Maybe they like the aftermarket filters because they sure do look sooooo purdy when ya pop open the hood to check your oil....

There are instances where an intake will make more power and unfortunately noise. At least there is a filter that will do its job with them and have enough media to overcome any restriction issues. You can always clean it more often if not. If this filter actually holds dirt isn't that important since it's exposed to the environment. The extra can go wherever it likes. As long as it doesn't get through or cause flow issues you're fine. I've never done an aftermarket intake because of dirt injestion and on my vehicles it would have comprimised torque below 3k but I know that in some installations an intake will help full band. OEMs don't always make the comprimises that you want.

The whole "synthetic" thing cracks me up. As opposed to what? made from dog hair or something. Got lots of polyester shirts in the closet, can't remember buying them as synthetic clothing? Guess that would made them better ? Now they just need to put some "carbon fiber" in there somewhere and "turbo" in the name and they should sell like hotcakes! synthetic carbonfiber turbo filter! gimme gimme

sorry

Check out their figures for the 'higher flow': They say they took them @ 28 inches of MERCURY!!
I think I need 800 to 1000 CFM of flow but I won't allow more than a few inches of WATER restriction! (What's the ratio? almost 30 inches of water to equal an inch of mercury?)
On SRI's report: with 2.6 inches of water they only got 230 CFM (My factory paper is rated at almost 400 CFM! I don't know what the restriction rating is to get that flow.....)
From what I can see: it doesn't look better at all.........
?

I just installed an AEM short ram on an '04 Accord and this filter was on it. Now I need to call them to find out how/where to get their cleaning solution. It is an entirely different procedure than the old clean & oil.

HMMMM - Oxyclean maybe?
