Reading online, the firestone flat rate techs get $5 to redo alignments, it's considered "warranty work." Consider the quality you'll get when they've already gotten your money, and you can't charge-back your credit card.

On the flipside if you tip your tech $10/ donuts/ beer you might get a splendid job.

WTH? You have a vibration on the way home from having service performed, and YOU find a tire with separation and steel cord showing? You do know that those tires had to come off to replace the shocks, and the service tech SHOULD have taken a look at every part he touched and inspected it.... not to mention the fact that apparently no test drive was done after service! I can only say wow, and glad you are OK. I'd never show my face at the shop again, but their regional rep would be getting pictures and communication about that grease monkey's service ethics/procedure. Maybe you can keep someone from dying at his hand.

Ply separations can happen anytime and without warning. I replace 2 or 3 a month in the fleet I service. Most of the time, the driver says there was no warning. A few have admitted to popping a curb and a few miles later the vehicle starts shaking. I personally had a left rear Goodyear Viva 2 separate with no warning. 5k on the tire and 7/32 tread left. On the highway, cruise at 60mph, no noise from tire or impact from running over something, the car started shaking badly first, after a few seconds it was almost impossible to control the car. Stopped the car, looked at the tire, cursed Goodyear for awhile, put the spare on and drove home.

The wife took the car back to Walmart and they tried to weasel out of the road hazard warranty saying she ran over something. I had to bring the car in and after I offered to play them the dashcam footage, I got a replacement tire.

Either way, the road hazard warranty should have covered it no questions asked.
