Thanks for the info! Does look like a very good oil indeed!

If you can find Warren Lubrigold 5W-40 euro synthetic, it has Benz/VW/Audi and BMW LL-01 specs listed on the bottle. I found it at a local family-owned auto parts store for 3.99/qt or $22 for 6 qt case. Been using in some older euro cars that consume oil. Seems to work well for the cost.

Posting an update. I poured in 10 quarts along with installing an S3675ML filter in July before storing my 911.

I normally have some chain slap from the tensioners bleeding down over the months, but the first start was silent and the engine ran smooth as ever, with great hot idle pressure.

Overall pleased.

Any reason you switched from Delo aside from this being BITOG and your stash was running low?

I ran the Delo 15W-40 because it was super cheap on WM clearance. I also wanted to see how a 15W-40 would run instead of the usual 0W and 5W-40s.

Felt like giving this STP a shot just because.

So far in this car, I've run:

Castrol 0W-40
Pennzoil 0W-40
Delvac 5W-40
Delo 15W-40
STP 5W-40

I've got a bunch of oil on deck, but i keep getting oils for cheap and I like to experiment.

I just bought a bunch of STP HM 10W-40 for $2/qt, so that'll probably be the next few changes.

Thanks! Yea, I misread it as a 30W when it really was a 40W :-(

You would never have to worry about oil again brother

looks good! one can wonder how much different same spec oils are! are just feeding $$$$$ the fat cats at sopus + the like, all that advertising + race support comes from buyers paying more $$$$

You'd rather give your money to STP, a company that primarily made it money fleecing people with useless additives? As for SOPUS et al, I do specifically support companies that sponsor racing. I seek that. Note that Red Line has sponsored racing for years, as well.

Let's give it to Redline, so they can invest more money in false advertising.

I just bought their $32 special (5qt/oil with an oil and air filter). I'll be running it in the VW and Hyundai (each being 2.0T). I believe the 5W-40 is a WD product as i've never seen AOC on any of the bottles. That's odd considering AOC is a Florida company. Nothing conclusive though. I've used it in the Hyundai before - no weird noises or vibrations. Ran just fine. Hope the same for the VW. Not running the 508 or 0W-20 anymore - just my choice as i know others really like it and its the correct spec. Like @TiGeo often states, "many of the old VW guard find it difficult to put 0W-20 in an EA888". It's taken almost a year with this Passat to come to this.

Looks really good. Put me in the category of "many of the old VW guard find it difficult to put 0W-20 in an EA888" LOL.
