NEW SHELL gas?

v power is basically normal premium gas except it has 4 times the goverment required additives for cleaning and such.

i guess shells theory is clean fuel system, valves and combustion chambers equal more power.

marketing bunk?

I tried the Shell V. Power for the first time last week and noticed the same thing with mpg. The gas mileage didn't seem to be as good as my usual Chevron 93 or 89. Thought I'd try the V Power just to see if my car liked it. Didn't seem to be anything special, car didn't seem to run or idle any better, so back to Chevron for me.
 
I've been using it for several weeks now and I'm getting similar mpg as I used to get before. I do feel better performance in terms of the responsiveness of the engine at low rpms. I've always used premium in my Maxima (which requires it) and it has never felt as responsive with other brands, which include BP/Amoco, Mobil and the "old" Shell formula. I don't know...

I have to admit that YES it did seem a little more responsive, not much but a little.

BUT, I do notice when I go out of town near San Antonio or Victoria, Texas... no matter if I but Exxon or Chevron or WHATEVER, my truck does FEEL MUCH better and I get better MPG from fuel oils up there as opposed to down here.

Last trip off the top of my head to Austin, I got 22 up there and 27 on the return... I was riding on fumes up there and filled up at the city limits IN and OUT.... similar experiences in San Antonio and Victoria.
 
What is its octane number in N.A. ? In Europe V-Power was introduced several years ago. In Germany it's called V-Power 99+ (in fact 100). In Holland it's sold in 95. No info whether they differ by octane only or by their compositions too. In Poland V-Power 99+ is sold under the name Racing, but Shell aslo offers V-Power 95 which is locally produced 95 boosted with Shell additives.

According to Shell, Germany its V-Power has a reduced content of sulphure (10 times less), offers considerably better burning (its composition allows the flame to spread differently) and will even clean catalysator within 2 full gas tanks use.

Couldn't be that much down here in Southern Texas.

Now I have to say just to experiment I have for the last several days been filling up with the "V"
Today was 11.440 gallons price $21.50
Noticed today that it felt a little better in town and on the expressways...... well maybe that was because I wasn't REVVING it like normal... Sure was... I reved it for experiment and felt as always with no real notice... Where I felt it different is slow moving and IDLE... Actually idles more like new ( 9400 miles ago --- real rough), maybe it is a different gas and my computer has to relearn its super strength of this super gas... anyways... I did notice in the morning it seemed to be ready faster... Only took a few seconds to sound normal... Will use another few tanks and see.
