Bit tricky to reload too, can't tumble it, bit small and it's like doing rifle ammo. Not impossible but certainly not like doing straight wall cases. I think some said the case life was short too, but maybe that is gun specific. But it sounds like 5.7 ammo is kind of expensive. I just checked Palmetto, and 5.7 is about double the price of 9 mm. Not near as much availability either.
I haven't seen any ballistics on the 5.7. Does it make a respectable self defense weapon? That 5.7mm round is no joke.
If I wasnt so heavily vested in 9mm I would be veyr tempted.
Ruger has a 5.7 out too.
But it's much zippier than 22lr. Faster, which adds energy, and I was reading that it tumbles nicely on impact too, which opens up wound channel wider. The 5.7 is arguably better than 22 magnum, but in terms of comparing to other rounds, 22mag is closer than 22lr.For those of us that live in free states, the 5.7 would have the advantage of larger magazine capacity. But with a bullet that is within the same weight range as a .22 LR. Hmm.
So, adding to your selection of calibers isn’t tempting? That 5.7mm round is no joke.

I did just glance over a 5.7mm vs 9mm review on ammo.com. Apparently, the 5.7 was designed specifically to replace the 9x19. But a lot of the advantages that the 5.7 is designed to have over the 9x19 really would only matter on the battle field. For self defense, where the vast majority of gun shootings will be within 7 yards, it seems that the 5.7 looses most of it's advantages.

I dont want to make my post too controversial but there was a terrorist attack on US soil not so long ago where a 5.7mm was used to devastating effect and the fit grown men that were hit stopped fighting like a switch, in a way that I do not think 9mm would have accomplished at least not in FMJ.I haven't seen any ballistics on the 5.7. Does it make a respectable self defense weapon?

Not high polish but pretty classy for a new 9mm.
