new RX350 - First oil change and wow tight filter

I once tore the whole can and internals off of one on a friends Chevy V8 and then used a drift in the baseplate inlet holes to tap the base plate loose with a hammer. I can't imagine how someone got it on that tight without crushing the can.

The oem Toyota can filters I’ve been buying for the Tacoma come in sealed plastic with grease already on the o-ring.

Same here, but that doesn’t mean the factory gets the filters that are packaged the same. Chances are they’re dry with no sealed plastic to speed up the assembly.

Turns out, some big dumb idiot put my last filter on way too tight on my F150. I struggled getting the thing off today, and there's no room up there to get to it with any kind of wrench...or at least a wrench I have.

Turns out...that idiot is me.....
