I am having my '89 RX-7 GTUs (Competition Package) Series 5 engine rebuilt right now, and this shop is recommending a particular brand of oil for use..... www.LE-Inc.com , Lubrication Engineering Inc. Not sure of its uses or claims, but my engine shop (who I trust very much for Rotary work and they are not likely to follow trends/fads or marketing hype, just what they know from years in endurance and road racing) swears by the stuff. They are building the tolerances in my engine to allow for higher oil pressure, and for use with a 5w30 oil as opposed to the traditional "use only 20w-50" mindset. They like the fact that it is super-low ashing and does not leave hard deposits when burned in a rotary like so many synthetics, and the shop claims that the wear is better/less with LE oil than others + premix, even high-dollar rotary-specific oil (Mazdaspeed Rotor 1 oil or Idemitsu). Again, just their experience in street and race engines.

Any opinions or experiences with Lubrication Engineering products? I have no problem using their products at the recommendation of my shop, just want some more input from educated guessers such as yourselves :-)

ive used it in race cars that ive worked on. its good stuff. kinda weird becuase all of their fluids i dealt with, gear oil, trans fluid, engine oil, were all red. but the stuff was good. the owner of the shop was picky about his oil, especially with a 1400hp motor in a drag car.

I've never used LE engine oil, but I've used their products in industrial air compressors and was very happy with them. I believe they're much like Schaeffers. Small and not well known but a company providing quality lubricants.

Yeah, the red fluid is weird...I'm going to put it in a (clean and dry) water bottle and pour it in at the track, freak people out like I'm using straight ATF in the motor :-)

PS-- my rotor housings are bad, just got off the phone with the builder. Nothing like spending another $1K to make you sick.
