Yes, I’m aware. I knew it wasn’t permanently water cooled. The problem is the casks were originally supposed to be able to be taken away and the power plant operators are being forced to store them on site
FWIW, the casks have a 100-150 year engineered lifespan, so there's lots of time to sort this out. However, it has been forcing the plant operators to operate temporary disposition locations, typically on the plant grounds, or another plant's grounds if the plant is decommissioned and the site restored. There's a cluster of casks at Douglas Point here that sit behind the shuttered facility, these will eventually have their contents moved into the DGR once it is constructed.
