New Mobil 1 Advanced Clean

I just did again. And the PDS that is available for Mobil1 Extended Performance 0w-20 does indicate PAO; it’s the same one I posted earlier that is dated August 16th 2024.

If you have access to a newer SDS please post for accuracy.

We’ve merely been comparing the Mobil 1 Extended Performance lineup to this new product “Advanced Clean” to see if it might be the successor to Mobil 1 Extended Performance (rather than permanently sharing shelf space together) and while Mobil 1 Extended Performance used to contain PAO in more of its products; they no longer do except for the one we’re discussing.

Advanced Clean, otoh, seems like it could be a really nice oil to the Mobil 1 portfolio and appears to slot itself in ahead of Mobil 1 Extended Performance now with PAO through the AC lineup.
Sorry, I was thinking of Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30, if I remember right it’s latest SDS does not show PAO ?

How many percent PAO in Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0W-20?
According to this it’s anywhere between 10% and 25%:

The same percentage is apparently in the Advanced Clean, with varying degrees of GTL which are not present in the Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w-20.

So, clearly an overall GTL base with decent PAO content for this new formulation of AC.

What's the K viscosity at 100 degrees on the Mobil 1 Advanced Clean 0w20 and the 5w30? I can't seem to pull it up.

Nevermind. I see it. 8.1 and 10.1, respectively.

Earlier today changes my Wife's 2014 Acura RDX with Mobil 1 Annual Protection.

Purchased the Mobil 1 Annual Protection OOA DEC 2019 at numerous AutoZones in Salt Lake City for $1 per quart. I sleep well at night using this oil after sitting in a plastic container for six +/- years. Wife drives about 2k miles annually (maybe a lot less), I change the oil in her Acura ever six-nine months.

Lots of Valvoline Restore and Protect fans on BITOG. I haven't seen anything that would influence me to change to a newly released oil, over my stash.

I've read somewhere that unused bottled full synthetic oil only has 5 year shelf life because the additives, etc can deteriorate/separate.

For your application, I don't think it matters much since your wife's mileage is low & you change it frequent enough.

From a marketing standpoint it totally makes sense for Mobil 1 to take advantage of the Valvoline Restore and Protect success with essentially only a name change. Mobil 1 has a history of keeping things clean but Valvoline has a history of cleaning up pistons with Premium Blue Restore and now Restore and Protect.

What is it only a name change from?

I don’t have any qualms with using older oil. The first thing that comes out of suspension are the anti-foam additives.

Just give your bottle a good vigorous shake. My stash is usually 2 to 4 years worth of oil. If I run lower than 1 year, I get a little nervous. LOL.

Now that it's been 6+ months since Mobil 1 Advanced Clean was released, has there been any evidence that it works anywhere close to Valvoline Restore and Protect (cleans carbon deposits & frees piston rings) & not just marketing double speak ("clean your engine in one oil change")?

I posted some Filter Photos in the filter section from the runs on the two oils. Take them with a grain of salt plz as you can see the whole discussion.
