New Mobil 1 Advanced Clean

She has a 2021 Honda Pilot 3.6, which has been on Honda dealer oil. 0w20. Scope relvealed a bit of nasties, harsh driving conditions, etc. Started her on Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30. 5w30 is the recommended viscosity everywhere else than the US.
Understandable. I was just joking, btw. I may run some Valvoline Restore and Protect 0w20 through my wife's Compass. The first 65,000 miles on it were before she met me. I am not 100% sure of what it typically had in it before, but she had a friend who I think did some changes with Mobil 1. I put Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w20 in it since I met her. I'm guessing the Mobil 1 has cleaned it a bit, but I may do 3 or 4 OCI's of Valvoline Restore and Protect to be sure of it before going back to the EP.

So , those who are savy to and use Valvoline Restore and Protect - who is the new Mobil 1 Advanced Clean targeted towards ? I need a reason to switch from Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30 to the new Mobil 1 product after my 4 to 5 Valvoline Restore and Protect OCI’s are up .

I dont drive a personally vehicle enough to make an honest and speedy review of the Mobil 1 product........but i would. Is there anyone here who fits the bill?

I can see what is visible through the oil fill cap on my wife's Compass. I'm guessing it won't look too bad because it has had about 4 OCI's of Mobil 1 Extended Performance 0w20 in it. But it could be a good candidate for the new Mobil 1.

I think they're just trying to poach some customers looking for Valvoline Restore and Protect, but I don't think we really know yet until we see some more marketing materials, and/or see some people running it and see their results.

It cant hurt

Mobil could have kept it simple -

Mobil 1 - 20k mile drains; API approved (think of current Mobil 1 Extended Performance just labeled Mobil 1).
Mobil 1 - Euro (ESP)
Mobil 1 Extended Performance - non-approved/boutique offering.

Done.

Instead, we ended up with Mobil 5,000.

How did we end up with Mobil 5000? Also they already offer a boutique option in Mobil 1 Classic.

To make things even more confusing we have Mobil Full Synthetic and Mobil Super Synthetic…..
Well, the more time you consider which one of their many products to purchase, then the more likely it is that you’ll be a customer regardless.

It’s interesting the different approaches of oil companies to say the least, but even HPL has quite a number of oil options; even with all of them being an upper tier formula as the floor.

The key is can a customer know what they are getting when they decide on a product?

Did you disable VCM for her yet? Don't forget to peruse Piloteers for other stuff for Pilot.

Also consider dropping her to 5k changes instead of MM. The used oil analysis from my '19 Pilot were not great IMO. Even the 5W-30 Euro L and Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30 took some damage from the short trips. At least they had some room to spare so my plan is to stay with the 5W-30's and as of this point Valvoline Restore and Protect unless things change. VCM was enabled for the last 30k but that was for my own "factory" reasons. VCM is now disabled again. Valvoline Restore and Protect should clean up anything that built up and keep it that way.

If Mobil 1 Advanced Clean comes back as the next "IT" oil maybe I'll change. I have multiple changes of Valvoline Restore and Protect to use between the cars and other stash.

VCM disable?

I agree with 5k OCI. Likely going to be her new norm.

Variable Cylinder Management. It shuts down 3 cylinders under certain conditions to possibly help get better MPG. Newer systems better but still have quirks and may add extra wear to other stuff. Link below that explains all well.

Piloteers - VCM Mega Thread
Thanks but that is going to get left alone. She drive like a bat out of hell, . I do not like the idea of fooling the computer temps.......can have other issues that comes with it, such as over fueling......

but thanks for the reference. I will look more closely at it.

Haven't seen that referenced on any of the forums with the VCM threads, oil burning threads etc.

VCM Tuner II seems more popular. That's what I have on mine now.
