Here are two Canadian reviews of the WS70, posted on 1010 tires:

"I mistakenly mounted these on a 2005 Lexus Is 300.. The tires absolutely RUINED the handling on the car. They are UNSAFE over 40mph. The soft compund tire may be great in snow, but is the worst handling tire I have ever tried. YOver 40mph is horrible, but at highway speeds you literally feel that your gambling with your life ! What had been a sporty tight handling ride was now felt like a 50's Buick with 150,000 miles ! Wouldn't recommend them for any car with a sporty or tight suspension.I removed them after 150 miles and put on the LM60's and the handling returned. I have read on other forums that it's common for the WS70's to feel "loose" or "squishy", but it's beyond loose, it's simply UNSAFE. Bridgestone should be embarrassed to put them on the market."

"Was utterly disappointed in the tires and actually returned them to the retailer after a season. I had done extensive research, but had to base it on the WS-60 as the WS-70s were too new. On dry pavement they stuck well to the road, but in the wet and snow, I would have sworn that I was on all-seasons. There was no aggressive driving at all and I could feel the wheels spin under moderate acceleration and no traction in the snow."

So they're hardly more expensive, at least in the fairly common 16" and 17" sizes I've needed.

That's surprising. When I looked at those two tires last year from various online dealers, in sizes around 215/45-17, the Nokians were at least $35 per tire higher than the Michelins.

Generally, in my size (225/55-16), and area, this is true as well, only it is ~$40.00-$45.00 more.

I wish that the WRG2s and Rs were the same (or less) $$$ as/than the Michelins.

The only problem with that review is that the buyer didnt break in the tires for 500miles.

the michelin xice xi2's felt worth than the blizzack ws-70's until they both broke in.. then the xi2's felt slightly better.

then again someone who is buying a MAX TRACTION type snow tire for a performance car.. bought the wrong tire. They have this thing called a performance snow tire now .. if thats what you want.

I am considering getting these this fall. Slightly concerned that h rated is only option in my size 2156016. I hope that this does not reduce traction capabilities of this tire.

I have a personal less than 100% satisfaction with the Blizzak WS-50 I once used. They were on a 2003 VW Golf. While I am not saying that these tires were bad by anymeans, they had their shortcomings: high price relative to others in the class, fastest wear in the class, squirmy on dry pavement, and while it had good ice and snow traction, it wasn't the be all and end all that others claimed, and not the best deal considering the price.

I am now using General Altimax Arctic - similar, if not better ice/snow performance, less squirm, amazing wear, and best of all, very attractive pricing.

At the right price, I would consider Blizzaks again. But there are many out there with similar performance, and more competitive pricing in my mind. From what I've heard of Michelin winter tires though, they seem too much all over the map depending on who you ask for me to bother with them, when other tires out there get consistently good reviews.
