I recall Bridgestone/Firestone having something called "Key Hole Sipes" that was similar, larger groove as the tire wore down. I don't know if it's still in use. I too would wonder if handing would be looser due to the top layer of rubber being less attached.
 
does anyone know if michelin has spring rebate starting soon? I'm interested in getting these tires but really would like to get a rebate with them.

do you mean in inclement weather?

I would expect a half worn tire to stop better in the dry than a full tread.
 
The Premier A/S prices are up on TireRack.

They are expensive. On average, they're at least 5% more than the Primacy MXM4.
 
I probably have 20K miles before I need to replace the Bridgestones. I'll be waiting to see if these live up to the hype or if I should stick with the MXV4.
