New Liquimoly bottles

Me think the picture I remember was from a test in Echappement that came out when the Golf2 Gti was released. The 16v was not out yet, when did it come out again ? It was a 16s in France, S for "soupapes" :giggle:.
Plus, Yacco was a French brand, so I suspect it was more of a dealer's thing.

The compartment I remember, it was held by a rubber strap and looked very much OEM. Vertical, on the left.
However, looking at all the pics of a Golf2 trunk that I could find, I wonder if I'm having false memories or something. There's no molding for an oil can behind the driver's side rear wheel arch...

I remember it just under that pannel with the switch. Aligned with the fender, held by a rubber strap.
Eh, well. Maybe the pic was under a different angle.

PS: There was a Golf I Gti 16s Oettinger in my neighborhood... a relatively beaten up daily driver. That was before people had decided whether it was an ugly unicorn or rare unobtanium... Jury's probably out to this day. But it was for sure a nice feat from VAG France.
Mr Oettinger was also a colorful individual. A genius tuner, sometimes impulsive as a businessman though. Word was he had a mountain of expensive, order-built crankshafts in his small factory, as he had heard that there are tax restrictions on large displacement engines in Portugal (cutout was about 200cc lower than whatever VW was making as bread and butter at the time), and decided he'll build a bunch of VW engines that displace just under the limit. Then it turned out things were not exactly as he imagined them.

Or was it the opposite - was it that he ordered stroker crankshafts that would make a 200cc higher displacement on a Golf, but didn't account for the tariffs... Can't remember. I'm getting old. One way or the other, he ended up with an order of many mucho crankshafts he had no use for.

I think 1.8 16V started in 1988. I had 1991 with that engine and got it used in 1998. It was a hot item. And it was a blast. I was thinking to do a hill climb with it, but I liked it too much and did not want to convert it for competition. It had those famous Recaro seats, ball stick shift etc. It was really a hoot to drive. And for the love of God, I cannot remember that part in the trunk. It was definitely one of the better fun cars I had, though not as fun as BMW E30 320i or Alfa Romeo 146 and 155 I had.

First time I opened an oil bottle in the US was 20+ years ago and I was absolutely stunned that it did NOT come with a spout. One that extends, that the French called "anti-gloup" for anti-errr...anti-glup ? Anti burp.
Was used to these from Shell, Total, Elf in Europe - you name it.

The funnel lobby must be real powerful in the US 😋

PS: Aside from maybe the Molygen that doesn't look completely ugly, LM packaging looks like the most ordinary, bland oil packaging I've seen. These new bottles included. It looks like something you'd see at a dollar store. I'm happy they gave their designer money to engineers - or at least I hope they did.
OK, LM bottles are the best when it comes to practicality(my opinion). You haven't seen shell(eu) oil bottles then, probably the worse in that business(leak problem, to soft. The castrol bottles are a strong 2nd place nowdays.

"How can we get Karst to buy even more LM?"

"It's already made in germany, we've already sold him a 20 pack of MoS2, and we can't add even more hydrocracked paraffins."

"What if we made the exact same thing, but in a taller bottle?"

"Ship it!"
You crazy you know what...I'm in!

Everyone in my Vdub circle wanted Oettinger. I settled on Autotech chip & exhausts and Schrick cams. Plus the ubiquitous K&N intake.
