A screw fell out of the bottom of my Tecra M5 today. So I put it back in and checked others. Most on the bottom were loose, so I tightened them up.

Not bad after three years of service.

I'm on a 5 year old HP zv6000...bare bones model.....that was given to me by my stepdaughter who said it stated locking up. She went and bought a new HP that promptly froze within an hour so she took it back and bought a Mac.

I run Malware, CC Cleaner, Spy Bot and Avast on this machine and it runs just fine now!

ddrumman2004, what CPU type is in that machine? I have a 5yo zv6000 with an AMD 3500+ and 1GB RAM. After placing a cheap MLC-based SSD drive in it, it hums along great now.

Mine has an AMD 3200 Sempron and shows 384 megs of ram. It also has just a 40 gig HD.

For what I do on it, access email and browse the web from my recliner, LOL....it works just fine. I have a 6 year old home built desktop pc that I use for other apps.

My wife bought a new Toshiba Satellite a few months back and that thing just zips right along....although I'm no fan of Vista!

Not to mention that if I carried a normal PC I'd kill it in 3 months.

With mac since the time machine availability with Leopard and now Snow Leopard, backup is a snap.

An instance was when I tried to test a linux system on my mack a live CD it had written to my hd and messed up my OS where it would not boot, not even in safe mode nor could I get into Single User... It would not even let me use my system disc... what I did was put in another linux system disc (forgot which) and it had utilities to format the drive and once formatted I used time machine to restore disc with my systems disc. Total down time about 1 hour. and my system was exactly as it was before the mis-hap
