The company I worked for before down there, the managers would say EVERY day you went into work " we can fire you, you can be replaced" The manager was stealing large amounts of money and trying to pit employees against each other" the manger's dad came up to the place to ask him why HIS money was missing and on the building property they got into a very bloody fist fight with customers watching nonetheless. That is just how people operate down there. Had I known that when I chose to transfer my schooling there, I never would have set a foot in that town.

I have come this far, I WILL finish school even in such a dysfunctional town!

Youre obviously not close to your DPT if you have time to do this.

JH, I don't follow. I'm just WORKING through school. I have to make time to do it. THUS I have scaled back my class load to get it done. That was just an example of the environment in that town. 97% are trashy & worthless .

JHZR2,

I know you are not trying to be harsh towards Dusty...
But give the guy lots of credit for working hard and wanting to get ahead in life.

Some people in his situation would have given up long time ago, unlike some people in the USA that have every excuse why they need every handout from our government and sit on their lazy butt.

And books and tuition to be paid. A bit harsh.

Ummmm, my wife went through this. The DPT curriculum IS a full time job and then some. No different than med school besides the residencies, etc.

Some things are better off not fooled around with.

Im the first person to be anti-debt, but for all the drama about living in a place he cant stand, and all the trials and tribulations, the last thing Id want to do is be sticking around longer.

Apparently there are scholarships being given out. While Im anti-debt, doing a limited amount of student loans to get through and out as fast as possible, and moving on in life would be a great thing.

Ill bet there are costs like a dually pickup being used to smoke out "deserving" prius drivers that are forcing the costs to be higher than they should be. Its TX for Pete's sake, not DC or CA.

Im not being harsh, I just lived DPT school as my spouse went through it just a few years back. I know the hours she put in and the difficulties it brought. Im getting my doctorate while working 40+ myself, but it is a different scenario/field and Im out of the instruction phase - I know all about getting advanced degrees in challenging fields. Something isnt adding up here, and given that there is a BIG dropout rate, which he is likely not aware of, Im trying to prevent stupid decisions that will add him to those numbers who never finished.

I assume you mean undergraduate. I doubt they will even let you play this game when in DPT school, unless they have some kind of relaxed requirements.

Be really careful, that's all Im saying. DPT can be a good paying job, and you can do REALLY well on an hourly basis augmenting with per diem work. Id rather see you get out of your situation ASAP since it appears to cause you a lot of stress, and not be one of the statistics that drop out because they cant cut it in DPT school.

I hate debt, but do your self a favor and pare down every expense you have, minimize costs as extremely as possible, and just get through ASAP. Dont cut back on classes and waste time in a place you hate. Get done, even if it means some very meager student loans. A few weekend hours of per diem when you get out and youll pay it off in no time. My wife gets at least two calls daily from recruiters. Youll have a good job and get decent pay if you just get through and out. Forget jobs, sell the truck, minimize costs and FINISH.

I have stocks, I can sell. I have put my car accident stuff on hold. The attorney was fired and I'm just letting other stuff settle down first. The suite was filed so statute is protected. It may be 10 years before that gets settled. I have other stuff to take care of. Yes, it sucks that my surgery was not done and that foot dragging clown ran off 2 potential attorneys I had lined up. Live and learn and I don't trust ANYONE down there.

My donor said she can meet with me Tuesday, so I will discuss everything with her then.

Bottom line:

Focus all your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual energy towards school knowing you will have a better future. Like JHZR2 said, you will need to stay disciplined with studying for school.

No need to worry about losers that you have to deal with in your previous postings (various problems) in your Texas city.

Off Topic: I going to Plano in 3 weeks for a wedding.
