To be honest, I haven't really been keeping track of fuel consumption. On a recent camping trip I ran it under light load charging my rv batteries. It ran from after breakfast till just before dinner and didn't run out of gas.

I probably have 40-50 hours on it.
Right now running Delo 10w30 synthetic blend. Plan on running the Amsoil 10w30 small engine oil in it next change.

The Champion conventional units may have a good record of reliability but I have spent many hours researching inverter generators and have read too many horror stories about "Big name" inverter generators being utter garbage (i.e. requiring repairs greater than 50% of the cost of a new genny after only a short time, not being able to start loads well under the nameplate rating of the genny). I have read a ton of negative reviews on Briggs, Generac, Honeywell, Champion, and Ryobi inverter generators... The consensus seems to be Red or Blue (Honda or Yamaha) if you need an inverter genny, anything else is going to cost as much or more than Red or Blue via repairs and/or replacement due to short lifespan.

I'm cheap and always lookin' to save a buck, but there is the old (new) adage used in mattress commercials around me "I'm too broke to buy cheap" meaning I can't afford to (or am too smart to) pay 20% less and replace 70% more often; also the truly old adage "Buy once, cry once".

Well, the reviews I find just about everywhere are positive about the Champion inverter generators. Check out the reviews on Amazon or the very large thread on RV.NET
There were some complaints on the early models going in to overload mode prematurely, but a updated module took care of that. All the newer ones come with the update.
They also cost about half of a Honda inverter!

I have been very impressed with mine!

I will have to give the champion another look. I cold make a access hole in panel for easy oil check/changes.
I had a 1500watt champion that burned up in friends house fire. It had a lot of hard hours on it.
I wonder if we can run one of these invertor units extended run off 6gal boat tank like a Honda.
