At 35,000 miles the OEM Kumho tires on my 2009 Hyundai Accent GS were getting close to the wear bars. Add the fact that it is rainy season here in Florida (read daily monsoons) and I decided to bite the bullet on a new set of tires.
I knew I didn't want Firestone/Bridestone and the Michelins were a bit pricey. I had a set of Generals on my previous car ('94 BMW 325is) and had good luck with them. After researching the Altimax RT, they looked like a good move.
I checked prices online, and Wal Mart had the lowest price by $60 for the set. I hate Walmart, and refuse to shop there. I checked Discount Tire and they gladly beat Wal Mart's price, and included free lifetime spin balance and rotation. I had the tires and a new set of wheels (old ones were rusting- Hyundai claims this is "normal") installed this morning. Funny thing on the new wheels- they were 25% cheaper in the store as opposed to online.
So I drive home from the shop and the car feels completely different- far smoother and quieter. I was treated very well at the Discount Tire. So far so good. I'm hoping that with proper care, I can get 70,000 miles out of them.
