I need to be quicker. Today I found Valvoline's new maxlife filter and Frams new high mileage filter. I thought I was the first to find these and got very excited. I got on BITOG as soon as I got home just to find out that I am about a wek behind on both of these finds.

Back on the subject - I always thought that we didn't want to add anything to our oil. And considering that this is a Fram, I wouldn't use it until I knew 100% what this "Gel" is.

I know how you feel Medic. After I found it browsing the isle's of Shucks, all I could think about is posting it on this site as soon as possible. Is that weird or what?
I believe the box mentioned a TPT gel that is supposed to increase power and improve the older parts of your engine. I think they're trying to capitalize on the whole 75,000+ market.
My question is: Since when did 75,000 become the standard for high mileage? That's nothing.

I was wondering the same thing. My last 2 cars went 221,000 and 152,000 and still ran fine when I sold them.

Remember, this mystery-gel filter is from the same company, and apparently the ONLY company, that thinks it's OK to put Teflon in their filters...

Is the Gel pack the same size for a 3 qt sump car and a 22+ qt CTD or PSD? And 75K miles was easy to get to even in thro-away cars like a Ford Pinto, Dodge Dart and Chevy Vega. I still had cross-hatch in the bores of my 78 Diplomat 318 with 180K miles and who knows how many hours idling as it was a cop car. I put over 75K miles on a 87 Dodge Omni 2.2 in just one year. End of RANT. DaveJ

An awefull lot of bashing when no one knows what it is. As far as adding thing to our oil? LC is regularly recommended.

You said it yourself: "no one knows what it is". As I said earlier, this stuff is from the only filter manufacturer that thinks it's OK to put Teflon in their filters. The minute FRAM confirms that this stuff is a gelled version of LC, I will immediately retract my negative comments and skepticism...
