New company just completed fiber runs, I'm switching Friday when they do the install from cable. I'm currently paying $65/mo using my own equipment for 250/25. New fiber plan will be 1g/1g for $55/mo including a modem and eero router. Won't use the router as I have an Orbi mesh system. Nice to have a competitor in town!

Jealous. Currently the only decent offering is Comcast. We have 1gbps down but only 40mbps up.
I would switch to a symmetrical fiber provider the moment it was available. 40Mbps upload is just garbage for what I do. Web development, hosting a Plex server, etc.
AT&T fiber is available a couple blocks away but not here sadly.

Yep, wish I had the option. We've got Xfinity cable and AT&T DSL. Every new place that has been built in the county since about 2010 has been fiber to the home. Our was built in 2007, with no plans to run to us. I guess we're 'lucky' that Xfinity wired our subdivisions a while back or we'd have been stuck with AT&T, and their max of 25/3.
Same at my location, Comcast is the only fiber to my area but AT&T and Metronet is not too far away. I would really love for Metronet to get here with it's symmetrical speeds at half the cost of Comcast's gig plan.
