Looking for a new mid size to full size car that has favorable ratings and is NOT a direct injection engine design ! Who is making a good port injection engine , mid size to full size car (domestic or foreign ) ?

I'll have to 2nd what Danno mentioned already. Let me just say Book him Danno! (Soory I had to get that out of me)

My Grandparents own an Avalon w/ the 2GR-FE, my Folks own a Lexus GS350 w/ the 2GR-FSE, and we own a 2013 Highlander Hybrid Limited w/ the 2GR-FXE variant that is also used in the Lexus RX450 Hybrid and GS450 Hybrid. Both the Avalon and GS have sweet pulling engines and the Highlander Hybrid's acceleration reminds me of my coworkers Audi Q7 S line. The Highlander Hybrid's V6 + rear electric motors pulls harder than the Sequoia 4.7L V8 w/ a supercharger/Borla exhaust that I recently sold. I would have simply blown off the Highlander Hybrids acceleration myself but now I know better and now my wallet is lighter because of a speeding ticket I got testing its acceleration. Troopers hang out on them desolate Country roads, stupid me.

Isn't the pentastar DI?

No, but there was talk of future versions being DI.

Port fuel injected engines were figured out 20 years ago. Any of them available today are going to be good.

Yes, it will probably be a few years before we see a DI Pentastar.

Do you have a guess as to when? Thanks

Not yet. Maybe by 2015 some versions will be. They don't seem to be in a rush, which is good IMO. The way it performs right now, its not really needing DI in order to keep up with the competition.

That was my feeling, I was thinking the 3.2L was going to have it.

Which engine do you think will get it first, the 3.2L or the 3.6L. I have a feeling they might wait till calender year 2015, which would mean we'd start seeing it in the 2016 models.

New 2013 Honda Accord.

Does superb in the small offset overlap crash tests.

The V6 models come with the non-DI J35 and a six speed automatic which is supposed to be pretty decent.

The I4's come with the new EarthDreams DI K24 and a CVT, so probably not what you're looking for.

Anything you can find with a J series engine will be very rewarding. A non-DI version is also still available in the TL which is a pretty large car and deals are good as we're in the last year of it's model run. On the small side, the TSX still uses the non-DI K24, mine is very snappy and I can get 36mpg on the highway with a gentle foot, also in the last year of it's model run deals should be good.

"Probably a few years" is the best that I can guess. Few meaning more than 2.

That sounds about right from what I've read. I think they want to try and really nail it. Thanks

Thanks all - should have stated something new in the $18K to $26K price range ...Acura and such would be out for me to consider .

a mid-size V6 sedan at $26K seems little tough to do but if you find a leftover 2013 one it would be a good deal. I don't what are the current incentives on 2013 Accord V6 but if it fits your budget, it would be a good car.
