The first detail is always the worst. I’ll do a quick walk through of the process from start to finish.

Interior:
- Chemical Guys UV fabric protector on rear cloth seats
- 303 on all interior plastics
- cleaned windows
- Trinova on the front cloth seats
- finished by vacuuming interior

Exterior:
- used a water spot remover on all exterior glass.
- washed entire vehicle with Dawn.
- clayed all horizontal surfaces.
- Iron-X the trunk / rear bumper (didn’t do rest of the car because it didn’t produce any results on the rear area.
- washed entire vehicle with a Chemical Guys car wash. I can’t remember which one but it’s ph balanced and has a synthetic wax in it.
- dried with microfiber.
- sealed paint with Sonax Profiline and headlights with Optum Opti Seal.
- RainX on all glass.
- Seal and Shine on all door jambs
- Seal and Shine on wheels.

All this took over 6 hours. I am tired and hot but it was worth it! The paint stands a fighting chance to the FL elements. We are glad to have a VW back at home.

Thanks for looking, hope you all have a great Saturday!

Methinks doth protest too much. :p Come on, it's a new car. I should post picks of my 15 year old Jetta I detailed a few weeks ago that sat outside 8 years without ever being washed. Looks like a 1 year old car now.

Hold up a minute. Is this your 3rd VW in a short stretch of time? Give us a play by play.
Crazy, I know. The first one had an oily looking substance that was under the clear coat. It looked exactly like sap so I wasn't that worried about it, but when I went to removed it I realized it was under the clear. Took to dealer and they assessed it and agreed the roof would need a repaint + blend into surrounding panels. This happened when the car had around 2000 miles. Not interested in having our new car repainted VW agreed to contribute 10% of MSRP on whatever VW we wanted to purchase. That worked out well financially because we got the second one for a steal.

We only put 4000 miles on the second one when our neighbor hit it. The shop had it for a month and upon picking it up I immediately noticed about 2 inches of clear missing around the gas cap on the quarter panel. I went inside and told the estimator I had a concern and she responded "oh, the scratch the front bumper?", which got my attention. There was no scratch there, or anywhere on the car when it was dropped off. She tried to play it off like it was there before but I knew. Anyway, she saw the defect in the paint job and you could see her sink down. She immediately said the whole quarter would have to be repainted again.

If they couldn't get it right the first time, I have to reason to believe the second job will look any better. If anything they will likely rush it as it comes out of their pocket at this point. At that point we decided to sell. Carmax gave us $2000 over what we purchased it for 7 months ago. We put that down on the new one that we have now. No regrets at this point lol. We loved the Silk Blue color, but Pyrite Silver is quite a looker too and likely will look better with 100K miles on it than the blue would anyway. Time will tell.

Thank you! My wife didn't look at it until after I was finished. She was impressed. Most people would wonder why it would take so long to detail a NEW car, but new ones can be the worst as far as that goes.
Yeah I have a friend that just bought a new Yukon Denali.

Of course it's black and of course he wants it ceramic coated. Going to hit him over the head with the quote Monday 🤣

Looks great. I hope this one provides you mont…….years, of enjoyment!

Edit, garage response at the time of my post.

@gregk24
Yeah, that’s a heck of a journey. I like the looks and the color. I really like our Tiguan. VW has been doing a good job on the design of their cars. The build quality, fit, finish and interior parts are top notch. I hope this one treats you well.
I do have one gripe. That is the tow hook covers in the bumpers. I really don’t see any use for them. Our grandson popped the front one out and I thought it was gone forever. Our son found it and shipped it to us. I immediately glued that thing in with some Permatex flexible exterior super glue. It won’t be coming off again.

One of these days, @gregk24 will learn to ceramic coat his cars to make his cleaning process more efficient. But it looks good. Congrats on the new ride.

I hope you quoted at least $2500.
