That's what I would use.

Stout oil, to say the least.

OP, I would use one of these oils that's spec'd for your car. If you have problems you're going to have to show receipts, and it better show an approved oil or the warranty could be denied, it's happened before.

Right.

Plus, let me know what the 1/4 mile is, my Supercharged '06 GTO may give you a run for the money. Maybe we'll race someday, neighbor!

True, but most manufacturers would also void warranties if they found out the owners were open tracking their cars, even though that is exactly what the Boss and LS versions were built for, supposedly.

I'm not sure if the Blue Oval falls under that "most manufacturers" umbrella or not.

Is the Roush stuff a beefed-up version of SynPower??
(Or does it have nothing at all to do with Valvoline?)

Red Line claims on their site for the 5w-50:

Quote:
Popular for 5.4L Supercharged Ford applications like Shelby GT 500 and Ford GT (WSS-M2C931-B)

Thanks for the advice guys. I still don't know what I am going to use. I want to use redline but don't want to risk the whole warranty thing. I will probably just stick with the Motorcraft fill.

I am not a drag racer by any means, but from what I have seen, the magazines are getting 12.3 to 12.4 and forum members are running 11.6, 11.7 with drag radials. Drag racing has just never been my thing, I will probably never bring it to the strip.

+1 If warranty is of any concern, those are the oils to use.

If it is being tracked, they will try to throw any excuse they can, so Id buy oil and filters at the dealer, despite the price, just as CYA.

After warranty, redline is a good choice.

Not suggesting you do this, but I have heard of people who have purchased an approved oil for the receipt, but put a different oil in the crankcase. But I also want to say that those approved oils are very good oils.

Let us know what you oil you decide to use and your run times

That is one sweet car. I love the color scheme. My fiance has an 07 GT that is close the that color blue with the white stripes.

I would use the Motorcraft oil until it is out of warranty. From what I have heard, Ford is pretty picky about changing anything from their recommendations during the warranty period. I would not give them any reason to deny any possible warranty claims that might come up with the engine, especially if you plan on racing it.

I'm a thin oil guy who drives a Civic Hybrid, but it would be engine suicide to put it in this hot-running $40,000 sports car.

Yes, however "Popular for" is not the same as being "approved for".

It's funny because here in Aus Ford are telling new Boss owners (engine name here for tr new 5L) fitted in tr GT Falcon 335kw to use 0w20. This has got a few people worried and most guys seem to be using the 5w40 Castrol edge.

Yeah, marketing... I have no doubt it will be fine, maybe better than the ford fluid. But if he has a warranty issue, he's cannon fodder with redline in there, IMO.

Same reason I don't run RLI in my 135i.

I really wonder if running his car in any kind of organized speed event will void his warranty. Never mind that Speed Channel ran a 1-hour special a year ago showing how the car was developed to run on a race track. That's basically just advertising. The real issue is what the warranty says in the fine print.

Ford made this car for the track/street.

It will be very hard for them to deny any warranty claim because you tracked it. Just follow the Ford recommendations for fluid changes and you will be fine. For peace of mind, you can always change your oil after a track event. Also use their recommended transmission fluids, etc and change those often.
