Winston,
I think I see your point. I thought I'd read somewhere that they were idential media, but I may have misunderstood and am having trouble looking this up now. I may have to open up a PP filter to compare for myself. (Probably the least I can do after making such a statement.) And, even if the element measures and looks the same to the naked eye, it could be different.

Winston,
Point well taken. And, even if media appears the same it may be diffrent.
Eric
PS: I tried to post earlier, but it didn't work.

In the past Filterguy has told us about different medias used for different branded filters, which were all made by Champion labs. Bosch, STP, Supertech, etc. I would bet the Premium Plus has better media than the Proline, but I dont really know. I definately would not think Proline would have better media, since they are sold side-by-side with PP's at Pepboys.

Winston, I believe your suspicions are correct that Proline filter media is different than Premium Plus. I cut open a PP for comparison and here's what I found.

Suprisingly the thickness of the PP element is comparable to P1 (though it is rated as less efficient). As you suspected, Proline is the thinnest and probably lower efficency than the PP.
