A friend recently bought a 10 year old Caprice former police car, milage was low at 80K but the condition says it was something like a Chicago inner city car as it is hammered. Last weekend we spent a whole day on it. We fixed a handful of major and minor problems but it was still "not right" It had only seen 2-3K in the 2 years before he bought it due to all the problems and the previous owners(17-18yo kid) lack of knowledge or funds to have it fixed. My friend had filled the tank and driven over 100miles home before I even saw the car so the fuel was fresh. I had some Nuetra in my car and figured it was worth a shot, over the next few days he was amazed at the difference it made. My guess is the old fuel had varnished everything up making for poor power and drivability and the Neutra fixed it right up. He stopped by today and we gave it a shot of FP this time, don't expect the drastic change like the Neutra made just because I am sure there is a lot less left to potentially clean. I have snuck for FP or Neutra in the wifes car and a week later she always tells me how she had a particularly good milage on that tank

, her car is a 40K 03 Impala so these products are great even for newer cars with low milage and good service.

You mean before Teflon oil treatments, magnetic fuel line conditioners, and tornado air intake vanes? I have heard something about there being lead in the fuel, but the more I think about it, the more it sounds like a myth. You should see some of the claims made for Auto-RX....

Nope, before them, there were other products like BG44K, MMO, UCL, B12, VentilSauber, Redline, Amsoil, Gumout, Chevron Techron, 3M, ...........

And, I remember the days of 3mo/3k oil changes, 15k oil flushes, and regular fluid/filter replacements........ Mechanics used to treat cars better then doctors treating patients. Now, its difficult to find a real mechanic with all the quickee specialty shops employing undedicated low quality underpaid hacks that do one thing(and sometimes poorly at that).

Its amazing what a bottle of FI cleaner will do to a car that has never had any!

Sit back down! I was really just expressing wonderment at the raves and performance numbers accompanied with some of the before and after photos of Auto-RX. (The 240SX immediately springs to mind.) Despite the history of those other snakeoils, I'm actually a reluctant believer....

That same car is spewing PS fluid so it got a shot of AutoRX, we will see if that is all that is needed. If it fixes it great if not I realize there is physical damage to a seal.

I gave some Neutra to a co-worker to purge the crankcase on his Bobcat and some 'brew for the fuel, I am anxious to see what difference they make.

A while back I actually did computer logs of the same tank of fuel without and then with 'brew and MAF grams per second went down for the same cruise control speed before and after even drove both directions down the same stretch of road. Just a couple gps but less air required to go the same speed on the same stretch of road has to mean less fuel with closed loop fuel injection.
The same friend has another car on the way since that one is turning into more of a project than he really wanted I might have to do more detailed testing and after the differnce it made on this car I am sure he will be up for it.

As far as how we got by before these products we have to remeber cars are lasting a whole lot longer these days leaving more room for slow degradation of components. I have a 160K modified 96 Caprice and a 187K 95 Roadmaster Wagon both are dead reliable the wagon took us on a trip to the east coast less than two months ago. 20 years ago you wouldn't have thought of trusting a car with that many miles on a trip that far.

Curious on the follow-up.

I am too but he hasn't used it yet. We are working 50+hours a week and after that the last thing he wants to do is spend time in a Bobcat. Looks like we might start seeing 40s soon though and I know he wants to get all the maintanence done before winter because this is his plow.
This is not a piece of equipment often used he bought it for landscaping a new home and plowing his driveway. I know that sounds nuts but a used Bobcat was much cheaper than what the landscaping bill would have been, hilly with rock retaining walls and such.
