neighbors taking my plants. [censored]?

So I live in a townhouse and the neighbors next door tend water the plants in the shared garden and such, which is fine but I have some plants on my side and realized that a plant that I had which I was trying to figure out what to do with was completely missing. The first time this particular plant was dead and they pulled it out of the ground and just left it there, which is like my number one pet peeve in my field of work. So now I went out to water a plant that desperately needed water and it was completely gone. I mean it wasn't to the point that it was dead dead, but it would have popped back. The problem is I can't tell which neighbor is doing it. The second plant wasn't even in the ground it was still sitting in the plastic pot.

Hook up some fishing line running from the roots to trigger the flash and associated camera.

I honestly don't even care about the plant, but I just hate it when people touch my stuff. I swear I'm going to put some surveillance cameras up and see what kind of stuff goes on when i'm away.

Nobody wakes up and says "I'm gonna f up this guys plants today."

Unless of course the plant in question was.... Yeah never mind. You could always ask around.

Welcome to living in a townhome. If you have older, retired people next to you I wouldn't be surprised if they do this. They were probably used to having a single family home that they kept immaculate. Then they downsize and want everything to be the same as they're used to. It's probably in the bylaws to keep the plants watered. Since no one wants dead or dying plants around.

So, you’re leaving dying (dead, but not “dead dead”) plants in or around the COMMON garden and you’re upset someone took care of it? Is the rest of the garden well-tended?

Unless I’m misunderstanding or the garden is full of plants in the same condition your plant was in, you sound like the community member to be complained about.

No it wasn't in the garden. I had it sitting on the very back portion of my driveway sitting next to my patio chairs. They actually walked over to my side and took it. I think they pruned it back to about 5" and put it on their side next to their plants.

It wasn't in the garden. In fact it wasn't even really visible to anyone else but me.

Gotcha. Yea, that’s messed up...maybe.

How long was it in the same spot, slowly dying? At some point, it’s better off tended to in someone else’s area than ugly and dying in yours. Doesn’t justify stealing, but maybe will take he bite out of it.

Probably 3 weeks or so. It wasn't dead just droopy. The part that irritates me is I filled up a cup of water to go and finally water it only to find it not there anymore.

Some people take their plants and gardening seriously. They've already seen you kill one plant and not even have the decency to bury it. They saw another plant of yours on death's door and took aggressive action to save its life.

Sounds like someone (your neighbor) cares more about the appearance of the garden, and puts time into it to maintain and water it, and gets offended a looking at your crusty, dead plants. So they pull them out of the ground. I don't think they are being malicious, they just want the flower garden to look good.

Spend $20 at home depot for some new plants and move on.

If it REALLY bothers you, go tell the neighbors that you have OCD and when your plants disappear, it throws your entire life into disarray. And that you cant sleep for a week and pace around your house until 4 am, shaking. Tell them that while the removal of dead plants might be trivial to them, it REALLY irritates you, and to please stop touching your precious plants without asking first.
