It has a 168K Regarding Oil I called Volvo And ask which oil they run at the dealer,Parts Specialist there told me they ran 5w30 castrol Synblend. I was Thinking of using Full Syn,but I have no idea. Or Just Go to Firestone and use My O'Reilly Employee Discount On the oil change with there Kendall Syn blend? Any suggestion's Fellas?

Is their anything special about this car like a turbo or anything. What did it originally call for?
Kendall is fine oil if you get it cheap enough.

Well Volvo states for your model and year: "Synthetic oils meeting SAE 10W/30 and complying with oil quality requirements are recommended for driving in areas of sustained temperature extremes (hot or cold), when towing a trailer over long distances, and for prolonged driving in mountainous areas." Otherwise they recommend 5W/30 for most other driving conditions.
I think Kendall is an awesome oil and you can't go wrong with it. If it is readily available in your area (wish it was here) then I think you should go with it.

no nothing belong to a Little old ladie The manual call's for 5w30 Meeting GL-3.I looked it up in the system at work it show's that 0w40 or 0w30 can be used.I know this car Takes almost 8 Bottle's of Oil. Since I been Driving I never Used a Bottle of Dino oil..So My Experiences with them are very Limited.

Yeah the only place I can get it here now is at the Firestone dealers. When I had my CR-V that's where I would take her. Purred like a kitten.

don't worry about oil. any sn/gf5 will work well in that old peugeot motor. biggest concern should be whether or not the timing belt has been changed. proactively, i would get the belt changed.

UK Castrol oil finder result:
EDGE 0W-30 A5/B5
VOLVO S80 2.9i 24V 1998 - 2004
Normal max OCI: 10K miles.

You get what you pay for and if you want your Volvo to last use a full synthetic major brand 0/30 AND a real Volvo filter.

It isn't the old PVR V6. It is a DOHC inline.

I agree make sure the timing belt has been changed, they are notorious for bad rear main seals and also the flame trap and crankcase vent system plugging.

Always ran M1 10w-30 in mine.

Id also agree that you get what you pay for. Use whichever you like, but make sure its a Mann, Hengst, Mahle or Genuine filter. Id say go with the M1 0/40, really good oil.

Forgot to add that the oil finder did list Edge 0/40 and 5/40 in the alternate section, so when considering the engines age I would suggest an 0/40 and the 40 grade is also approved to plus 40 rather than 30C. If you can't find Castrol Edge, any full synthetic 0 or 5/40 from Mobil, Shell or Liqui Moly should be good, but always DYOR.
If you don't know the previous oil service history too well, do a 5K first OCI then send off a sample to Blackstones to cross check if all looks well for a 10K OCI. Only use real Volvo filters.

As the car was cheap that is worth checking as it is often the reason for a sale. A full cam belt, tensioner, water pump, aux belt and EGR valve clean could cost near 1000 usd at a Volvo dealer.

I Forgot to mention my father is Finance Director of a nissan Dealership.so he got for what the dealer took in as a trade in. It went to volvo the next morning.to get 6 coil's put in it. then i did the full tune up on it .That's how I Found the Rear Main leak. And belt was changed around 100K because there was a tag next to valve cover.

I Run 0w30 castrol in my bmw I Only Run Oil's That meet spec's For my car's.I Just did not know know if Volvo had any Specifications Like bmw has for LLO1 And LL04.I read the Manual and it Just stated 5w30 So thats why I asked you guy's for Advice.

Mobil recommends:

- Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30
- Mobil 1 5w30
- Mobil 1 AFE 0w30

For this car. So it looks like it doesn't require or call for a high HTHS Euro oil.
